Classification hiking trails

The Blaueishütte is an ideal starting point for tours to the surrounding peaks and round tours.

 

Demanding mountain tours

(No fear of heights and surefootedness required, trail classification "black")

  • Steinberg (uninsured) 1:00 hour

  • Schärtenspitze (wire rope protection available in places) 1:15 hour 

  • Rundwanderweg (Schärtenspitze - Eisbodenscharte - Hochalm - Märchenwiese - Schärtenalm - Blaueishütte) 4-5 hour

    "Steinbergrunde"

    Report about a round trip around / on the Steinberg mountain.

  • Hikes into the Steinerne Meer over Schärtenspitze - Hochalm - Wimbachschloß - Wimbachgrieshütte - Steinernes Meer

  • Hochkalter via normal route (uninsured, climbing passages) 3 hour

    "Schritt für Schritt auf den Hochkalter"

     In ALPIN 07/14 the new column "step by step" presented in detail the normal route over the Schönen Fleck on the Hochkalter.

  • Hochkalterüberschreitung  and descent to Ofental (unsecured), 6-8 hour

 

Tours over the Blaueisgletscher

(Alpine experience and equipment for firn or steep ice and rock passages required, no belaying and no markings available.)

  • Blaueisspitze (depending on conditions with skis or crampons) 2 hours
  • Hochkalter over the Blaueisgletscher 3 hours

 

Hiking

Hike to the foot of the Blaueis glacier (trail classification "red") 0,45 - 1 hours

On the way you will pass the ruins of the old Blaueishütte, which was completely destroyed by an avalanche in 1955.

Arrived at the "glacier" you can enjoy the impressive scenery and visit the ice remains of the glacier.
