FAQ

Here you will find all important information.

What needs to be in the backpack for the overnight stay?

Alpine club ID (if available), cash or EC card, hut sleeping bag, earplugs if necessary, small towel and washcloth, garbage bag, headlamp.

Are there single or double rooms?

Unfortunately, the Blaueishütte has only shared rooms with 4-6 places.

Can I reserve a room for myself/my group alone?

Unfortunately, this possibility does not exist. Of course, we try to accommodate reservation groups in each case together and if possible alone for themselves. However, if the hut is very busy, all seats will be taken.

Difference between shared room/ mattress dormitory?

Shared room: accommodation in a (bunk) bed in a room with 4-6 beds, bed is equipped with pillow, covered comforter and if needed an additional woolen blanket. A hut sleeping bag is mandatory.

Mattress camp: accommodation in a multi-bed dormitory (bunk beds) in a room with 4-12 places, bed is equipped with a pillow and two wool blankets. A hut sleeping bag is mandatory.

Hut sleeping bag?

You need a hut sleeping bag for overnight stay in all room categories. Cotton hut sleeping bags are for sale at the hut. Unfortunately, we can not rent hut sleeping bags.

Dog?

For hygienic reasons and out of consideration for other guests, a dog can only be accommodated in our "dog room". This is a three-bed room in the neighboring hut where the dog and accompanying group can be accommodated. Please specify the category when booking  Select "dog room". Please only book these places with a dog if all 3 places in the room are still available, otherwise double bookings will occur and then several dogs would be booked in this room! Please only book sleeping places for two-legged companions; the dog must do not have a booked place to sleep. Please bring your own dog blanket. Overnight fee for the dog: 21 euros/dog/night.

Mobile reception?

Mobile reception at the cottage is available, but not everywhere. The best reception you have on our new wooden terrace in front of the hut.

Charge battery of cell phone etc.?

Is possible, there are sockets in the hallway on the second floor. Please bring your own charger. Unfortunately, there are no sockets in the rooms.

AV ID card to bring with you?

Absolutely. The overnight fees are collected by us on behalf of the hut-owning section and passed on in full to the section. The hut host can only charge the reduced overnight rate for Alpine Club members if a valid AV ID is presented. Please note that all IDs must also be present for section tours and for families!

Hut rest?

According to the DAV hut regulations, adequate silence must be maintained during the night time. At the Blaueishütte this begins punctually at 22.00 and ends at 06.00.

Internet?

At the hut there is a paid Wi-Fi access. You can get a ticket at the counter. We ask for your understanding that a fee must be charged for the use of the wifi - the technical effort is much higher at the hut than in the valley.

Meal times?

Breakfast from 6:00 to 8:00.

Hot kitchen from 11:00 to 16:00.

Small selection of soups and stews from 16.00 -19.30.

Half board dinner menu: is served at 18:30 (please note that half board can only be booked in groups: i.e. the whole reservation group eats half board or the whole reservation group eats from the small menu in the evening).

At 19.30 the kitchen closes, drinks can be ordered at the bar until 21:45.

Vegetarian or vegan catering?

On our menu you will find various vegetarian and vegan dishes from 11.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. The evening menu of the half board includes a vegetarian soup and optionally (please tick the box when making your reservation) a vegetarian main course, which can also be vegan. Unfortunately, we cannot offer a guaranteed completely vegan evening menu.

Our breakfast buffet always includes plant milk, vegetable margarine, fruit, muesli and jam so that you can put together a tasty vegan breakfast yourself.

Allergies and intolerances?

As far as possible, we are happy to accommodate intolerances and allergies - but we need some lead time for this. Please contact us early, i.e. at least 1 week before arrival by email. Please remember - we are a mountain hut with limited possibilities and capacities, but will try in any case to prepare a suitable selection of dishes for you.

Showers?

In the washrooms there are warm showers (fixed at 38°C). Since drinking water is very precious at the hut and hot water can only be provided with much effort, we ask for your understanding that the showers can only be used for a fee. Towels are not provided.

Slippers?

Climbing boots may not be worn in the bedrooms and washrooms or on the stairs leading to them. Cottage-owned slippers are available on a limited basis.

Climbing - or mountain equipment to rent or buy at the cottage?

Unfortunately, we can not offer a rental service or store. Please check at home if your equipment is complete before departure. You will find the nearest mountain sports stores in Ramsau and Berchtesgaden.

Climbing courses at the hut?

The terrain around the hut offers climbing opportunities in all difficulties and is therefore an ideal course area. At the hut directly there is no possibility to book a course, but you can find under partners various mountain schools that offer courses or guided tours at the hut.

Can I pay with card?

You are welcome to make cashless payments with us.
